MONTREAL, Sept.15, 2022 —As of early this morning, CN along with the other U.S. Class 1 freight railways reached a tentative agreement with the remaining 3 unions representing railway workers in the U.S. Those tentative agreements now go to the union membership for ratification. During this time, workers have agreed not to strike.

This means that CN will continue full operations and embargos for Rail Security-Sensitive Materials (RSSM commodities such as PIH/TIH) and all time sensitive hazardous commodities will be cancelled. We will move forward to conduct operations in a manner that protects the fluidity of the network.

We are pleased with this result not only for our teams in the U.S. and our industry, but also for our customers and the economy as we have certainly avoided a major disruption. Our thanks to all unions involved in the negotiations and to the Biden Administration, including Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, and the members and staff of the National Mediation Board.
