CN Campus Partnership Program

Opening Our Doors for Collaborative Learning Experiences to Ensure Safe Operations

CN Campus is an ultra modern training facility with two locations - Winnipeg, Manitoba and Homewood, Illinois. These campuses have hosted over 15,000 of our employees, and thanks to the CN Campus Partnership Program, they have also hosted nearly 300 customers.

The goal of this program is simple: Help instill a safety mindset and ensure safer operations throughout the entire railway supply chain.

We are once again pleased to welcome customers to take part in a set of free, safety-focused classes at our state-of-the-art training facilities. Our experienced instructors have crafted three unique courses to be given in both Winnipeg and Homewood.

CN Campus Partnership Program Courses

Each course can accommodate up to 15 participants.

Please note:

The "Track In-Depth" course covers the same information in "Track – The Basics", so there’s no need to register for both courses.
The "Track In-Depth" course days overlap with the "Railway Safety" course days, so you can only participate in one or the other. The "Track – The Basics" course is offered one of the days that doesn’t overlap with "Railway Safety".

Track – In-Depth Inspection & Maintenance 2 days / 16 hours / complimentary

Gain a comprehensive understanding of track inspection and maintenance. In addition to learning the basics of how to maintain your track and manage costs, participants will be trained on government regulations and the standards of how you can perform inspections on your Class 1 track. Please note: Track – In-Depth covers the information in Track – The Basics, so there’s no need to register for both courses.

Track – The Basics 1 day / 8 hours / complimentary

Gain fundamental knowledge of track components, nomenclature and basic maintenance activities as well as common defects and hazards. This course will teach you the requirements to maintain your track at a fully serviceable level, while managing costs through proper preventative maintenance.

Railway Safety and Non -Main Track Operations 3 days / 24 hours / complimentary

Learn the fundamentals of safety culture, how it is integral to your operations and how to apply it. Gain an understanding of non-main track operations as well as an understanding of the Life Critical Rules. This course will include tools and techniques to increase safety focus as well as engage in effective safety dialogue. Track safety, switch cleaning, blue flag application, proper use of derails, and clearances will also be covered.
