Special Release Types

What is this?

Typical empty and loaded releases do not require selection of a special release type. The Special Release picklist allows you to specify atypical releases, such as the rejection of a car due to its condition, notifying CN of a railcar defect, or release of a car for switch by CN to another rail carrier at origin.

Available Special Release Types

Special Release Type	Description	Available When
Non-dangerous. Car Has Been Cleaned/Purged	Release a car that was cleaned/purged of all dangerous goods and/or dangerous residue.	Car is placed loaded and released empty.
Non-dangerous. Placards Have Been Removed	Release a car that last contained asphalt, for which placards have since been removed.	Car is placed loaded and released empty.
Reject-Account Dirty	Reject a car for loading due to car being unclean.	Car is placed empty and released empty.
Reject-Bad End Gates	Reject a car for loading due to problems with the end gates.	Car is placed empty and released empty.
Reject-Bulkheads Defective	Reject a car for loading due to defective bulkheads.	Car is placed empty and released empty.
Reject-Car Not Ordered	Reject a car that was not ordered, but was placed at your location.	Car is placed loaded and released loaded.
Reject-Floor Defective	Reject a car for loading due to a defective floor.	Car is placed empty and released empty.
Reject-Hatch Covers	Reject a car for loading due to defective hatch covers.	Car is placed empty and released empty.
Reject-Hopper Gates Defective	Reject a hopper car for loading due to defective gates.	Car is placed empty and released empty.
Reject-Lading Rejected	Reject a car for unloading due to a problem with the lading.	Car is placed loaded and released loaded.
Reject-Lining Hopper	Reject a hopper car for loading due to a defective lining.	Car is placed empty and released empty.

Reject-Side Doors (Box Type Cars)	Reject a boxcar for loading due to defective side doors.	Car is placed empty and released empty.

Reject-Unloading System-Full Load	Reject a car that you were unable to unload (car is still fully loaded) due to a defective unloading system.	Car is placed loaded and released loaded.

Reject-Wood Lining	Reject a car for loading due to a defective wood lining.	Car is placed empty and released empty.
Release-Account Dirty	Release a car after unloading, and report that the car is unclean.	Car is placed loaded and released empty.
Release-Bad End Gates	Release a car after unloading, and report that the car has problems with the end gates.	Car is placed loaded and released empty.
Release-Bulkheads Defective	Release a car after unloading, and report that the car has defective bulkheads.	Car is placed loaded and released empty.
Release Empty With Auto Racks	Release a car that is now empty but contains auto-racks.	Car is placed loaded and released loaded.
Release-Floor Defective	Release a car after unloading, and report that the car has a defective floor.	Car is placed loaded and released empty.

Release-I Will Reload This Car	Release a car for reloading purposes. Car must have been assigned to you by CN for reloading.	Car is placed loaded and re-placed empty.
Release-Lining Hopper	Release a car after unloading, and report that the car has a defective lining.	Car is placed loaded and released empty.
Release-Not Used for Loading	Release a car that was not used for loading.	Car is placed empty and released empty.
Release-Roof Defective	Release a car after unloading, and report that the car has a defective roof.	Car is placed loaded and released empty.
Release-Side Doors (Box Type Cars)	Release a car after unloading, and report that the car has defective side doors.	Car is placed loaded and released empty.
Release-Unloading System-Empty	Release a car after unloading, and report that the car has a defective unloading system. The car being released must be empty.	Car is placed loaded and released empty.
Release-Wood Lining	Release a car after unloading, and report that the car has a defective wood lining.	Car is placed loaded and released empty.
Switch to Connecting Carrier	Release a car to CN for switch to a connecting rail carrier at origin. Origin switch options will be made available based upon your historical shipping trends.	Car is placed empty and released loaded.
