What is this?
A Draft is a partially complete shipping instruction. It is a grouping of information blocks such as product, shipper, consignee, etc. with fields in which you enter shipping instructions. Click on the block names in the index below for more information on how to enter your shipping instructions.
When is it used?
A Draft Shipping Instructions should be used to save details in your Shipping Instructions as you work but do not have all the information yet to submit to CN. Think of a Draft as where you start with a pattern, then add the unique details for that shipment and have the ability to save it as a Draft to be completed at a later time.
Submit Shipping Instructions:
After retrieving a draft, enter the remaining shipping instruction information in the open fields or select a value from a picklist. Fields with a red * such as Equipment ID are mandatory. Click the Submit Shipping Instructions button when all information has been entered. Once you have submitted a draft SI, it will be deleted from your List of Drafts.
Save Draft:
Enter the shipping instruction details in your draft SI and if you are still missing details, click on the Save Draft button. This will save all new information over your previous draft SI. Your newly saved draft SI can be found in the List of Drafts for you to return to at a later time.
