Viterra and CN celebrate new high-capacity facility in Ste Agathe, MB

Making Canadian grain producers more competitive in global markets requires ongoing investment and partnerships.

On October 20, CN joined Viterra and its farm customers to celebrate the opening of Viterra’s new high throughput grain elevator in Ste. Agathe, MB. CN will serve the elevator, carrying grain products to gateways on Canada’s west and east coasts for export, as well as domestic markets in Canada and the US.

The new facility is located just west of Ste. Agathe, off Highway 75, directly north of Viterra’s canola crushing facility. Ste. Agathe is approximately 30 minutes south of Winnipeg.

This highly efficient grain elevator features 30,000 tonnes of storage capacity. A 134-car loop track facilitates fast and efficient car loading at over 1,600 tonnes per hour. The facility is capable of loading a full unit train while in continuous motion.

This new facility represents our ongoing commitment to driving excellence in the transportation supply chain, and is another excellent example of Viterra’s commitment to maintaining an industry leading asset network. We take great care to evaluate our footprint and make the targeted investments necessary to support our industry today and well into the future, and by working with partners like CN we continuously strive to provide local customers with the high level of service they deserve.
