Sharing opportunities and empowering successful careers for women in Operations
The Aspire Program was initiated in 2012 to help educate young women across Canada about all the exciting opportunities that exist in the world of Railroad.

What is Aspire – Our Mission
Our mission is to raise awareness and encourage young women to consider a career in more non-traditional roles. At CN, we will provide the knowledge and resources to help these women get started in planning an innovative career in Operations and the countless possibilities available to them for achieving a fulfilling and secure future. The program includes:
- A visit to High Schools to meet with Grade 11 & 12 female students
- A tour of the CN rail yard including hands on activities and a chance to meet some of our experts in the field
Aspire2 = Empowering Success
What better way to share knowledge and awareness of opportunities for young women in the Railroad industry than to the share it with educators themselves. We will host an event that is geared towards high school guidance councilors, SHSM leads, career path and high school teachers interested in learning about opportunities available to their young female students. But why stop there, we want to ensure that we carry on our support from recruitment to retirement as we introduced Aspire2 to our current female operating employees. This is a support group to share experiences and give helpful tips on how to successfully evolve as a woman in a non-traditional role.
